Band

The Union County High School "Pride of the Mountains" Band is comprised of students in grades 9 through 12.  The 2008 edition of the bad boasted 91 total members.  The Band Director is Kerry Rittenhouse.  The Drum Major for the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band is Eric Aulet.  The band is the Music Ambassador of Blairsville and Union County.

Union County High School band students are active in district and state band activities, including district honor band, all-state band, and solo-ensemble festival.  The UCHS Band annually attends both district concert festival and marching festivals and contests.  UCHS Band students have been selected to participate in the GMEA and Georgia Lions' All-State Bands, District Honor Band and UGA JanFest.  The band also performs at football games, marches in parades and presents seasonal concerts throughout the year.

The band recently earned all superior ratings at the Georgia Mountain Marching Contest in Jasper, GA and Peach State Marching Contest in Rome, GA.  The Drum Major, Percussion Section and Color Guard also received all superior ratings at both of these contest.  The Color Guard was awarded Best Overall Guard at the Georgia Mountain Contest with the highest guard score of the day.  The Symphonic Band consistently receives superior ratings at the annual 9th district GMEA Concert Festival.

Past honors include performing at Disney's Magic Kingdom, on the cruise ship Ocean Breeze, a performance at the Statue of Liberty in New York City and representing the state of Georgia in the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago, IL.

Chorus

UCHS Chorus is open to any student in grades 9-12. The chorus performs a fall, winter, and spring concert each year plus attends the 9th district choral festival in the spring. Students have various opportunities to attend choral clinics throughout the year, including 9th district honor chorus and All-State Chorus.
In addition to the chorus class, ladies and guys are given the opportunity to be a part of and Advanced Women’s Chorus and Guy’s Ensemble. These ensembles meet once a week after school. Performances for these groups include spotlights in the chorus concerts as well as public performances at local community group meetings.
The UCHS Chorus takes a spring trip every other year. This year, plans are being made for a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN to perform at a choral festival in conjunction with Dollywood.

Mock Trial

Mock Trial is designed to give students an inside perspective of the legal system, providing them with an understanding of the mechanism through which society chooses to resolve many disputes. The UCHS Mock Trial Competition Team competes against other schools in our region to litigate a criminal or civil case.
