In the fall of 2016, Union County Schools plans to issue every student in grades 6 through 12 a dedicated Chromebook computer for use at school and home. Students in grades 3 through 5 are issued Chromebooks as well, but they are housed in the classroom. Union County Schools emphasizes the importance of providing support and resources to students in order to prepare them for 21st century skills as they progress toward entering college or the workforce.
The school system has carefully outlined a plan of success for the device rollout, by drawing on the work of other systems with similar programs. Current efforts include parent night programs at each school, technology resources on the school website, an enhanced cloud filter designed to keep students safe online, and required digital citizenship modules. Please contact your child’s teacher or school for more information.
