Elementary School

Woody Gap Elementary strives to provide students with the best possible beginning to their academic success. The Saxon, the Harcourt Phonics and the Direct Instruction reading program as well as the regular Harcourt Reading Series are an essential part of the elementary curriculum. We also use language arts, math, and reading websites to enhance the curriculum. Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math programs from Renaissance Learning are used extensively to enrich the language arts and mathematics subjects with additional science and social studies objectives.
Older elementary students read to younger students in the Book Buddies program.
Wilson Reading System has been implemented as an intervention for struggling readers. The program directly teaches word structure with its highly structured program through multisensory teaching techniques.

Middle School

Woody Gap Middle School provides for the transition between the elementary studies and the high school curriculum. Students are taught the four main academic areas of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science. In addition the students have opportunities to keep fit by participating in health and physical education classes. Middle school students are also given the opportunity to explore possible career choices, study the arts, and learn about their heritage through their social studies classes.

For the past 20 years middle school students and parents have attended a three-day educational adventure at the Jekyll Island Marine Institute. Its success has been spread to the elementary grades on occasion.

High School

Woody Gap High School operates on a block schedule of four classes per day. We offer both college and vocational diplomas for the students. Students are required to successfully complete 30 units in the appropriate courses for graduation, plus passing the Georgia High School Graduation Tests. Vocational diplomas are offered in the areas of Agriculture, Construction, and Healthcare Science.
