Student Council

The Woody Gap Student Council was organized by Mrs. Althea Cantrell  to allow students the opportunity to work with the faculty and  community for the betterment of the Woody Gap School and Suches  Community. Student Council members are held to the highest standards  in honesty, responsibility, integrity, leadership abilities, and  cooperation. Each year these members are called upon to represent  their school in various events. The Student Council is responsible  for organizing several school activities to promote better school  morale, and events to raise funds for school improvement projects.  Some of these annual events include : Back-To-School Bash, Book  Character Costume Contest, High School Awards Banquet, Yard sale,  Bake sale, and Car Wash, and Relay For Life Hat Days. In the past two  years, members organized three new annual events: School and  Community recognition of community veterans on Veterans Day, The Gong/ Talent Show, and Retired Teachers' Appreciation Ceremony. The Student  Council is currently celebrating eleven years of service to Woody Gap  and the Suches Community. It is the oldest active club at Woody Gap  and currently has 27 high school members and probation members.

S.A.D.D. Club

S.A.D.D. stands for "Students Against Destructive Decisions”. The SADD Club at WGS received a $2000 grant from the Georgia Department of Highway Safety to implement several alcohol/drug free programs before the Prom and Spring Break seasons arrive. SADD members hope to bring programs to the school that force students to think before they make destructive decisions regarding drugs and alcohol.
